Dieppe: Solitaire du Figaro yachts will arrive on Sunday

The Solitaire du Figaro is one of the most cherished races in French sailing. The race, first run in 1970, is a unique multi-stage solo event which is open to amateurs

The 42 skippers in this years Solitaire du Figaro race are expected to arrive in Dieppe on Sunday 23rd June. Many events are planned throughout the weekend to accommodate them.

Competitors left Bordeaux on 2nd June and are expected to Dieppe on June 23. This is the last stage of a three week journey that began in Gironde then through Porto, Portugal, Spain Gijon to Roscoff in Brittany, a total of 1938 miles. Once they set off from Roscoff on 20th June, competitors will be heading west around the tip of Brittany.

This year, the boats will be moored in the Duquesne area. The pedestrian area on the Quai Henri IV will be reserved for musical entertainment. Two tall ships, "the Star of France," a 40 metre topsail schooner, and "The Fox" a topsail cutter, are also expected after taking part in the Armada of Rouen.

For five days, from 22 to 26 June, Dieppe will host the Solitaire racers offering activities, water activities, shows and concerts.
